Join Fermentation on Wheels and Live Cultures Fermented Foods at Isabelle Farm for a food and fermentation-filled day featuring farm tours, a workshop, a culture swap, and a potluck.
Tara of Fermentation on Wheels will be in town with her bus-turned-lab and library to guide you through the simple tradition of fermentation in one of its most simple forms: via the local micro-flora of vegetables! Fermented foods heal our bodies, celebrate age-old traditions, and promote healthy eco-systems. Learn about cost effective & simple tools that will help you get started at home.
After the workshop, join Tara on the bus for tours, tastes of her creations, and one-on-one tips and advice on fermentation and the delicious foods it creates. She will also have a multitude of starter cultures, such as kombucha SCOBYs, water kefir, and sourdough, for barter and sale. If you would like to take home a culture, we ask you please bring something to swap or $10 per culture. Bringing jars from home for cultures is encouraged but not necessary.
We will also have a collaborative feast after the workshop! This potluck is open to interested beginners as well as expert fermenters, so come show off your latest food experiments and teach us a little bit about your process, too. Complementary non-fermented dishes are also encouraged! The bus will continue to be open through the potluck.
